Hello! My name is Lorelei Gerstemeier, I am a third year art teacher with a B.S. in Art Education from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. I am Delaware and Pennsylvania State Certified PK-12 in Art Education. While at Kutztown University I concentrated in photography and textile materials work. I have experience in many art exhibitions and have received an Honorable Mention Award from the 20th Annual Juried Exhibition at GoggleWorks in Reading, PA. When I am not teaching, I love to cook and make my own art.
I believe in art as much more than making and creating a work of art. Art is everywhere around us, and I want to open the eyes of learners to the world around them. Art is a huge influential part of one's culture and society. Through art one can be a more well-rounded knowledgeable member of society. Art enables us to explore the world around us, to find and explore new ideas and cultures, to ask questions and find new solutions. It teaches us to learn to work together, to communicate, it teaches us love, understanding, and acceptance of the world around us. Visual arts is the glue that connects all subjects, it is what connects each and every one of us to everything. One is able to explore their own identity and creativity through art, while also finding new ways of doing things and problem solving. Art education is crucial to every human being's development and my passion for these key learning concepts is why I teach.
Every child is unique and wonderful. They learn differently, have different experiences, strengths and weaknesses, different interests, and respond differently. I aim to spread my passion for art onto my students and give them the necessary tools to learn, grow, develop, and excel into kind, compassionate, accepting, and successful beings.
